OUR GRATITUDE (1 Cor. 1:4-10)

During this time of Thanksgiving, what are you grateful for?  Is it your family, your husband, your wife, your job?   For the believer, we are most grateful for our salvation granted to us by a gracious God.  For we know that there was nothing in our actions that warranted that salvation, there was only the amazing grace of God.  Listen to this podcast and learn how Paul expressed his gratitude to God, and as you listen you will find the things that you can be truly grateful for.

JESUS, THE BELIEVER'S REST (Mark 2:23-28)

Do you always try to do what is right?  Most of us would say yes.  In your daily activities are you always trying to do what is ethical, moral, and just?  Again, my expectation is that you would say yes, as Christians we are basically moral people.   Do you have a set of values about what is right or wrong that you try to live your life by?  Of course, you do.  When you face a hard decision about your career, or marriage, or divorce, or even where you are going to go on vacation, do you try to do what is right in your own eyes?  Listen to this podcast to learn how Jesus tells you that if you answered yes to any, or one, of these questions, and you are a believer, then you have failed to fully enter into the rest that Jesus Christ offers each believer.

WHERE DO YOU SHINE? (Mark 2:13-22)

Where do you shine the brightest?  Where is the place that people notice you the most and say, I wish I could be like that person? If you are a believer, is it when you are at church on Sunday?  Certainly, Christ expects a church to be a light set upon a hill for all to see, but what about your individual light?  Listen to this podcast to understand how Jesus expects us to be a light for a dark world that is searching for answers.

THE POWER OF JESUS CHRIST (Mark 1:35 to 2:12)

When you commit a crime against a state or local jurisdiction, it is a court from that jurisdiction that is given authority to determine your guilt or innocence of that transgression.  This is because the law that you have broken was written by the same state or local jurisdiction.  It is their law you have broken, therefore, they hold the right to judge you.   When you commit a sin against a holy and just God, it is God alone that has the authority to determine your guilt or innocence, and then to convict and sentence you for that sin.  This is because God has established the absolute truths of what is right and what is sin, therefore, He alone holds the right to judge you.   It is because God is a just God that He cannot simply say your sin does not matter and release you from the consequences of that sin.  So God chose to send His only begotten Son to pay the penalty for your sins.  He did this so that He can forgive, not just some of the people of their sin, but so that He can forgive all of mankind's sin.  The authority to forgive sin is God's and God's alone.  No priest, pope, ruler, or potentate can do this.  Listen to this podcast to learn how Jesus Christ claimed the power and authority to forgive your sin on this earth.  Learn how if you do not seek the forgiveness that Jesus can provide before you die, you will not receive that forgiveness at all.

THEY KNEW THE NAME OF JESUS (Mark 1:16-34)

Can you remember the first time you heard the name Jesus and really understood who He is?  The name of Jesus divides the history of mankind.  There is the time before Christ came, and there is the time after He came.  Every time you write a date you are acknowledging that Jesus came to this earth 2,000 years ago.   The name of Jesus is one of the most famous names in all of history.  Listen to this podcast to learn what happened on the day that the name of Jesus first became famous.

DID SATAN HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO OFFER A KINDGOM? (Mark 1:14-15)

Did Satan have the authority to offer Jesus the kingdoms and the glory of the world during the temptation of Jesus?  If yes, does he still have that authority?    As a believer, what can you do to combat such a powerful foe?  What was the purpose of Jesus, the Son of God, coming to this earth in the form of a man?   Listen to this podcast to find the answers to these critically important questions for the believer.

JESUS IS ANOINTED AND TESTED (Mark 1:9-13)

Why would Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God, need to be baptized?  Did He need to repent of anything?  Did He need to turn from religion to faith?  For that matter, why would Jesus Christ, the Creator of all things, need to be tempted by one His own creations, Satan?  Did Jesus, the last Adam, fall in this temptation, just as the first Adam did in the Garden of Eden?  These are compelling questions with significant answers to all those who call Jesus, Lord and Master.  Listen to this podcast and learn what the Word of God says about these questions that are the foundation of our faith in Jesus Christ.

JOHN'S MESSAGE (Mark 1:4-8)

Our world is in need of repentance.  It needs to turn away from religion and turn towards Jesus Christ.  This is the message that John the Baptist had for the Jews of his day.  They needed to repent and turn away from the rituals of Judaism and return to the God-given faith of their fathers.  Their baptism was a symbol of this repentance.      Mark tells us of John's baptism of repentance, and then he tells of the coming of the One who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.   Listen and rejoice as we learn of the difference between John's baptism and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

THE BEGINNING (Mark 1:1-3)
