DISCERNING BETWEEN GOD AND SATAN (Acts 5:12-42)
Today’s lesson is about choices. The choice of following God, or of following Satan. Now, you would probably say, “Well Keith, of course I will always make the choice of following God.” But in reality, is it always that clear cut and that easy to determine which church we ought to attend, and which pastor is truly preaching God’s Word, or which gospel ministry we should support with our money?
To recognize the works and will of God requires three things:
The first is that you must have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Master. You cannot find God’s will until you do that first.
Second, you must know God’s Word. To discern truth from evil, requires that you have constantly studied and applied God’s Word to your life. This is important because God will never ask you to do something that is against His revealed Word.
And then third, you must have fully surrendered your life to God. God does not speak to a Christ follower that is in rebellion to Him in any part of his life. Why should He tell you more, if you don’t obey Him with the things that you already know are His will?
To hear the Holy Spirit speak and guide you to the things of God, requires that you be filled with the Holy Spirit of God. If the Holy Spirit is locked away in some deep, dark, closet that you only let out on Sunday, then you will not be able to discern the works and will of God, from those of Satan.
Satan is walking among us like a roaring lion, looking for those that he might devour. Satan’s greatest tool is deception and in today’s world we see this manifested in the occult. The occult is active on our college campuses today and in the best sections of our cities. People are given over to witchcraft today. It is amazing how many people will buy their daily horoscope, which they will then follow. Many people carry amulets, good luck pieces, charms, little dolls, and patron saints of this or that. This is growing by leaps and bounds in a materialistic age and culture such as ours.
For what is the gospel? It is a person, and that person is Jesus Christ, the Son of the living and true God. Do you have Him today? You either do, or you don’t. You either trust Him, or you do not trust Him. Either He is your Savior, or you do not have a Savior. That is the message. The apostles did not cease to teach and to preach Jesus Christ.
Click on the link below to hear a message to learn how you can make sure that you do not miss the signs and miracles of a gracious God in your life. Do not be deceived by Satan, the master of lies. Find God’s will and surrender to it.

LYING TO THE HOLY SPIRIT (Acts 5:1-11)

LYING TO THE HOLY SPIRIT (Acts 5:1-11)
Let me begin by saying that, as a follower of Christ, the Holy Spirit is your very best friend, and the Holy Spirit is Jesus in you. He is the one who makes manifest the life of the Lord Jesus in your mortal flesh. What a wonderful, wonderful, friend the Holy Spirit is.
In the passage of Scripture that I’m going to read to you today, we find a phrase about lying to the Holy Ghost. Let me say this, all lies are serious. Let me repeat that, all lies are serious. Sometimes we tell little lies, we exaggerate a little bit, and we think that is not quite so serious. For example, men, when your wife asks you if an outfit makes her look fat, do you tell the truth? Of course, you do.
Some lies we think are whimsical and maybe even humorous. But, a lie is a very serious thing. The Bible tells us that Jesus is known as the truth. On the other hand, the Bible tells us that Satan is the father of all lies. Therefore, when you tell the truth you give God an opportunity to work. When you tell a lie, you tell a lie because Satan has already been working in you.
God detests the sin of hypocrisy, the sin of pretense, the sin of saying we are one thing, but really being another. If you read about the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ, you will find out that Jesus reserved his sternest words for hypocrites. There was one thing that Jesus Christ detested, and it was hypocrisy.
Let me make four observations, and four pleas with you today. Number one, if you are a child of God that sins among the saints it is more serious than sin among the lost. And, sin when God is working in revival power, is the most dangerous of all sin.
Number two, is that sin against the Holy Spirit is extremely serious. Do not tempt the Holy Spirit of God. Do not be a pretender.
Number three, I urge you to be on guard against hypocrisy in your own life. It is far better not to be what you ought to be than to pretend that you are what you are not.
Preachers, and teachers, are often tempted to do that, to exaggerate, or to pretend devotion because we think that we are setting the example. In my estimation, I want my pastor, and my teacher, just to be honest and to tell it like it is in his heart. And, I want people to be honest. And, I believe when there is a spirit of honesty, even though there is a spirit of failure, God can work.
Don’t pretend a devotion to Jesus Christ that you don’t have. Don’t lie to the Holy Ghost. And, last of all, don’t let some hypocrite keep you from getting the best out of life.

JESUS IS THE CHRIST, THE MESSIAH (Acts 2:25-36)
In our message today, we continue listening to the first sermon of the new church age. It was preached by a Holy Spirit filled and anointed Peter whose purpose was to convict the Jewish people of the terrible crime that they had committed. For they had rejected and crucified the promised Christ, the Messiah that they had been waiting on for so long. Now, Peter was offering them an opportunity to come to that Messiah for repentance and forgiveness. Peter was preaching on the day of Pentecost, in front of thousands of Jews from all over the world. The Jews had just witnessed the outpouring of the Holy Spirit through the 120 disciples speaking in the various tongues of their homelands. They had come to celebrate the feast of Pentecost and instead they had witnessed a miracle. Their reaction was one of confusion and mockery. As he stood up to begin his sermon, Peter responds to the questions of the Jews by using Scripture. Something they were very familiar with. He proclaims that they should not be surprised by these events, as the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is similar to those events prophesied by Joel that will take place in “The day of The Lord,” which refers to the Great Tribulation and Millennial Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Then, Peter starts to build his case for the proof that Jesus is the Christ, the promised Messiah: First, he proclaims that Jesus was a recognizable Messiah. Jesus had performed miracles unlike anything ever seen before in the history of the world. This was evidence that He had been approved of by God. He was the one who had fulfilled the prophecies of the Old Testament prophets.
Next, Peter proclaims that Jesus was a rejected Messiah. The crucifixion of Christ had been foreknown by God from the foundation of time. When God acted in creation, He had also acted in redemption. But this did not excuse the rejection of the Messiah, the Son of the Living God, by God’s people.
Then, Peter proclaimed the best news of all, that Jesus was the resurrected Messiah. Jesus was alive, He could not be left in the grave. Peter declared that it was impossible for God to have left Jesus in the grave. Jesus died for our sins, but He was sinless. He arose in victory.

CHRISTIAN SOLDIER (Ephesians 6:10-24)

CHRISTIAN SOLDIER (EPHESIANS 6:10-24)
In almost every century since the creation of man, people have been concerned about war. In fact, if you were to go to Google, that bastion of “so-called” truth, and ask the question, has there ever been a time of total peace on the earth? You get different answers, but the bottom line is, since man was thrown out of the Garden of Eden, there has been little or no times of complete peace on earth. The Bible, the inerrant Word of God, tells us that in the end days, that we are living in today, there will be wars, and rumors of wars. It also says that we will have to wait for the Millennial Kingdom of Christ for there to total peace on earth.
So, with good reason, everybody today is worried about war. They’re asking, what is happening between Israel and Hamas? What does the Russian invasion of Ukraine mean to us? What about Iran getting a nuclear bomb? What about the president’s efforts to stop these wars? Does it mean that America will be forced to go to war?
What many Americans do not realize is that we are already at war. It is an invisible war, an unseen war. It is a continuing war between light and darkness, between good and evil, between heaven and hell, between Christ and Antichrist, between God and Satan, and between the church and the world. There is a war, an invisible war, and Satan is our adversary. And he, like a cornered animal that has been wounded and frightened, is letting loose with everything that he has in these last days. And you cannot afford to be ignorant of this war, for to be ignorant is to be unprepared. You cannot afford to try to be neutral, for those who do that, will suffer the most.
Click on the play button to hear a message that is a call to arms. The church is not a showboat; it is a battleship. And we need to learn this morning some truths about being a Christian Soldier in the war against Satan’s darkness and evil.

HOW TO MAXIMIZE YOUR MARRIAGE (Ephesians 5_22 to 33)

HOW TO MAXIMIZE YOUR MARRIAGE (EPHESIANS 5:21-33)
In today’s message, we will be looking at what the Bible tells us about marriage. About the kind of marriage that God wants us to have. The kind of marriage that He has planned for His Church, and the kind of marriage where both the husband and wife maximize their love for God, and then through God, their love for each other. I know that when I teach on the home, I am really getting down to where the action is, because if you live for Jesus at home, and in your home, then you can live for Jesus anywhere, amen? And, if it won’t work at home, then it just won’t work anywhere.
Above all earthly relationships, before business, before your father and mother, and even before children, a man should love his wife, and a wife should love her husband.. The relationship between husband and wife is compared to the relationship of Christ and the Church. That is, the highest of all spiritual relationships and the highest of all human relationships is not mother and child, but husband and wife.
Mark 10:7-8
7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
KJV
You see, as Christ loved the Church, a man is to love his wife. He is to love her supremely. And, if we had those kinds of homes, things would be different in this country—wives who are faithful followers, husbands who are loving leaders.
Our Lord loves us so much that He wants all of us to have three happy homes. The first happy home that God wants you to have is your family home. The second happy home that God wants you to have is a church home. The third happy home that God wants you to have is a heavenly home. And all three are centered in the Lord Jesus Christ. You won’t have a happy family home without Jesus; you are not going to have a happy church home without Jesus; and you are not going to have a heavenly home without Jesus. And if you don’t have Jesus, then you’ve missed it.

HOW TO BREAK SATAN'S STRONGHOLDS IN YOUR LIFE (Ephesians 4:22-31)

HOW TO BREAK SATAN’S STRONGHOLDS IN YOUR LIFE (EPHESIANS 4:22-31)
In last week’s message, we talked about what a difference God makes in the life of a true follower of Christ. We contrasted a life without God, to a life full of God’s grace and power. Yet, there are many believers who might say that they don’t feel all that different, that God is not working fully in their lives. The Bible tells us that the reason for this is that we allow Satan to have strongholds in our lives. If we want to experience the full measure of God’s grace and power in our lives, then we must remove the strongholds in our lives that Satan has dug in, and fortified, and is using to defeat us.
It is a tragic fact that there are many believers who get strongholds in their lives. And I believe that there are many people, who are listening to me today, who have in their heart, and in their mind, and in their life, a satanic stronghold. The tragedy of this is that not only is it harming them and wrecking their spiritual life, but they also, themselves, are contaminating the life of their family and the life of their church, because the devil has found an unclean place in that person, and the devil has made a campground, a foul nest, a beachhead, a citadel, a stronghold, there. And he uses that stronghold to war against God and against the work of God.
You are never going to cease grieving the Holy Spirit, you are never going to expunge Satan and get him out of your life, until you take these three steps: repentance, resistance, and renewal.
Click on the play button to hear a message on what these three steps are, and how to apply them to your life. How you shouldn’t try to repent until you are honest and face your sin. Don’t try to resist until you’ve repented. And don’t try to be filled until you resist—until you choose against Satan and yield to God’s blessed Holy Spirit.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE GOD MAKES (Ephesians 4:17-27)
Monday Mar 03, 2025

WHAT A DIFFERENCE GOD MAKES (EPHESIANS 4:17-27)
The Bible teaches us that the behavior of a true Christ follower is to be radically different from that of the person who does not know Christ as their Lord and Savior. That difference is God. That difference is the light, the strength, the presence, the comfort, and the wisdom, among many other things, that God provides to His children, to those who call Jesus Christ, Lord of their lives.
In our message today, Paul reminds us of the blindness of lost people. He reminds us that no follower of Christ should let such earthly minded, secular, and lost, people influence what they believe, or how they behave. People who are outside of Christ simply cannot think straight on moral and spiritual issues. They may articulate the issues, but they leave out the spiritual dimensions because they are blind to them. Therefore, they cannot come to any true conclusions
Man was created to be inhabited by God. God intended for the human spirit to be inhabited by the Holy Spirit. The indwelling Holy Spirit was to enlighten the intellect, elevate the emotions, and energize the will. As a result, the life of man would express, in human terms, the life of God. The fall ruined all that. Sin entered and the Holy Spirit left. Without the life of the indwelling Holy Spirit, the natural man is spiritually dead, “alienated from the life of God.”
The genius of the gospel is that when we accept Christ as Savior, we are cleansed by His blood and regenerated by His Spirit. The Holy Spirit takes up residence in the human spirit, making it possible for the saved person to have fellowship with God. They can now cooperate with the Holy Spirit, and begin to live the kind of life that God intended man to live—a life governed by the Spirit of God.
The understanding of unsaved people is darkened because they are cut off from the life of God. Their spirit is empty, and darkened, because the Holy Spirit does not live within their spirit. As a result, they are ignorant of the things of God. This is the cause of their deep-seated, inner blindness. It is a vicious circle. The darkness is self-perpetuating. The lost move from darkness to darkness in darkness.

HOW TRUE REVIVAL OCCURS (Genesis 34:1 to 35:11)
Jacob’s story is a story that represents the story of many of us. It is a story of pride, of self-confidence, and of deceit. Yet it is also one of God’s grace, God’s patience, God’s power to transform a life from one of a carnal nature to one of a godly spiritual nature, and ultimately one of God’s love for this man. It is a story of God’s ability to see through all of the rough edges to find the diamond of the man of faith that Jacob was able to become.
That is what God does with each of us, He sees past all of our faults to find the man and woman of faith that each of us can become if we will surrender our will to His. And that is what had to take place in the life of Jacob, he had to come to the place where God had broken his self-confidence in his own abilities, and, therefore, was ready to surrender to God. This did not happen all at once, it happened over a lifetime. For Jacob did not fully become that man of faith described in the Book of Hebrews until the very end of his life.
Click on the play button below to hear a message on how God has challenged us to grow spiritually, and He has shown us that our pace should be lead by God, empowered by God, tested by God, and rewarded by God.
God challenges us to disdain the veneer of religiousness, for the surrender of righteousness.
God challenges us to make a choice, for we cannot live with one foot in the world and one foot in God’s will.
God challenges us to seek the revival of the Spirit of God in our lives.

JACOB AND LABAN (Genesis 29:1 to 30:30)

JACOB AND LABAN (Genesis 29:1 to 30:30)
As we study Jacob, we see a man who is confident and sure of his ability to handle anything this world can dish out. Jacob knows God, and God has promised to be with him at all times. Yet, Jacob has not learned to be led by God. Instead, Jacob is leading and expecting God to back him up.
That is the way many believers treat God. When times are good, they choose the way they want to go, and what they want to do. Yet, just as soon as things turn bad, they turn to God to get them out of whatever mess they have gotten themselves into. They never think to ask God to lead them; they never ask God to choose the path they will go down, and they never humbly surrender their life to the will of God.
In today’s study, Jacob will find himself deceived by his Uncle Laban, trapped in a job he wants to leave, caught in the middle of a battle between two wives for his attention, and ultimately with 13 hungry kids looking at him for food and provisions. Sounds like a normal day in one of our own lives, doesn’t it?
That is what makes the study of Jacob interesting, because Jacob is a story about us. Think about your own life, are you retired but forced to work a job to meet your financial needs, are you stuck in a job you feel taken advantage of in, are you having marital problems, do you feel deceived by those you should be able to trust, or do you have hungry kids, sometimes adult children and their kids, looking at you for dinner and a house to live in?
Do you ever ask yourself, how did I get myself into this mess? Do you ever ask yourself, and honestly answer, did God lead you, or did you lead God?
As a believer, God has promised to always be with you, and He always will be, wherever you drag Him, but the real question you need to ask is, have you totally surrendered to the will of God in your life? Are you following God as He leads you, or is God following you as you lead Him? Have you ever seen the bumper sticker that says “God is my copilot”? Listen, if God is your copilot, then you need to move over and let Him be Captain. God is to lead you.

THE FAITH OF NOAH (Genesis 5:25 to 6:10)
Sunday Sep 17, 2023
Sunday Sep 17, 2023
In our message today, we begin a section of verses that describes The Flood and the reasons that God brought destruction to His creation. From the time that God expelled Adam and Eve from the Garden, God had blessed man, and man had been fruitful and multiplied. In a relatively short period of time man had populated the whole earth. Yet, instead of recognizing the God that created him, man had turned away from God, and reveled in his own abilities and knowledge. And as happens every time man turns away from God, man had degenerated into total depravity.
What was the condition on the earth before the Flood? What caused God to bring the judgment of the Flood?
Genesis 6:5
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
KJV
But as we see throughout the Bible, there was a remnant, someone left who still believed in God. Noah “found grace in the eyes of the LORD.” The Bible tells us that grace is the unmerited favor of God; it is getting something we do not deserve. Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. But it goes beyond that, why did Noah find grace in the eyes of the Lord? It is because “Noah walked with God.” It wasn’t because he deserved it; it wasn’t because his good works outweighed his bad; it was because Noah walked with God.
Click on the link below to hear a message on the faith of Noah, and man who preached righteousness for a period of 120 years without a convert, other than his family, and witnessed to the grace of God.
