GOD TEACHES JACOB TO DEPEND ON HIM (Genesis 31:19 to 32:18)

GOD TEACHES JACOB TO DEPEND ON HIM (Genesis 31:19 to 32:18)
In our message today we will talk about God teaching Jacob that he must depend on God to lead him and solve the problems that Jacob will face. Jacob’s whole life had been about conniving and deceiving others to solve his problems. But that is not where God needs Jacob to be in his spiritual relationship with God. Jacob must be dependent on God.
Jacob was a man who was clever, who thought that he could get by with sin, but God didn’t let him get by with it because God has made it very clear that whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap. Jacob had refused submission to God at home; so he was forced to submit to his uncle. Jacob came to receive a wife in dignity, but he was made a servant because God respects the rights of the firstborn. Jacob had deceived his father; so he was deceived by his father–in–law. He revealed a mercenary spirit that displayed itself in the way he got the birthright, allowing his mother to cover his hands with the skins of goats. Later on, we will see that his own sons will deceive him in very much the same way.
Jacob deceived his father about being the favorite son, and he will be deceived about his favorite son, Joseph. In all of this, we see that God’s truth is that whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap.
Click on the link below to hear a message on how God wants us to depend on Him rather than on our own efforts. Many of us take our burdens to the Lord in prayer. We just spread them out before Him. Then, when we get through praying, we get right up and put each little burden right back on our back and start out again with them. What does this say about the trust we have in the Lord? It says that we don’t really believe Him. We don’t really trust Him as we should.
Jacob will struggle with this almost until the day he dies. I pray that the study of Jacob will bring this truth home to your heart, and it will make a difference in how you trust God. It is not easy, as Jacob illustrates, but the reward of a life that is fully trusted to God, is a life that is a testimony to the lost souls of this world. A testimony to the power of God to transform, a finite life here on earth, to an everlasting life with Him.

JACOB AND LABAN (Genesis 29:1 to 30:30)

JACOB AND LABAN (Genesis 29:1 to 30:30)
As we study Jacob, we see a man who is confident and sure of his ability to handle anything this world can dish out. Jacob knows God, and God has promised to be with him at all times. Yet, Jacob has not learned to be led by God. Instead, Jacob is leading and expecting God to back him up.
That is the way many believers treat God. When times are good, they choose the way they want to go, and what they want to do. Yet, just as soon as things turn bad, they turn to God to get them out of whatever mess they have gotten themselves into. They never think to ask God to lead them; they never ask God to choose the path they will go down, and they never humbly surrender their life to the will of God.
In today’s study, Jacob will find himself deceived by his Uncle Laban, trapped in a job he wants to leave, caught in the middle of a battle between two wives for his attention, and ultimately with 13 hungry kids looking at him for food and provisions. Sounds like a normal day in one of our own lives, doesn’t it?
That is what makes the study of Jacob interesting, because Jacob is a story about us. Think about your own life, are you retired but forced to work a job to meet your financial needs, are you stuck in a job you feel taken advantage of in, are you having marital problems, do you feel deceived by those you should be able to trust, or do you have hungry kids, sometimes adult children and their kids, looking at you for dinner and a house to live in?
Do you ever ask yourself, how did I get myself into this mess? Do you ever ask yourself, and honestly answer, did God lead you, or did you lead God?
As a believer, God has promised to always be with you, and He always will be, wherever you drag Him, but the real question you need to ask is, have you totally surrendered to the will of God in your life? Are you following God as He leads you, or is God following you as you lead Him? Have you ever seen the bumper sticker that says “God is my copilot”? Listen, if God is your copilot, then you need to move over and let Him be Captain. God is to lead you.

ABRAM’S VICTORY (Genesis 14:1 to 15:5)
Monday Dec 04, 2023
Monday Dec 04, 2023
In today’s message we will discuss a meeting between Abram and Melchizedek, the King of Salem, and then we will see a particularly seductive temptation of Abram when the meeting between Abram and the king of Sodom occurs. God will always prepare us for the temptations or trails that we will face, and in this case, He brings Melchizedek out to meet Abram first.
As I read these verses, several questions just jump right out at me. To begin with, where did this man Melchizedek come from? He just walks out onto the page of Scripture with bread and wine, he blesses Abram, and then he walks off the page of Scripture. It makes me want to know where he came from, then I wonder where he is going, and I wonder what his business is when he is not out greeting Abram.
The Scripture tells us that he is the king of Salem, but it also tells us that he is a priest of the most high God. Which brings up another question: How did he find out about “the most high God”? Melchizedek describes God as the most high God, which means the Creator of heaven and earth. In other words, the living God, the God of Genesis 1, the God of Noah, and the God of Enoch. This is the One true God that this king, named Melchizedek, is the priest of.
Click on the link below to hear a message that gives us the answers to these questions. Learn that the Bible describes Melchizedek as a type of Christ, or an illustration of Christ. Melchizedek compares to Christ in that the Lord Jesus comes out of eternity, and He moves into eternity. He has no beginning and no end. He is the beginning. He is the end. You can’t go beyond Christ in the past, and you can’t go beyond Him in the future. He encompasses all of time, and all of eternity.

HOW TO MEND A BROKEN FAITH-PART II (Gensis 12:1 to 13:4)
Sunday Nov 19, 2023
Sunday Nov 19, 2023
I want you to imagine yourself being in the Biblical school of faith, and that’s a wonderful school, and if the truth were told, many of us have been in that school for a very long time. The fact is that we often have to go back for some remedial training. There are also times when God has decided to hold us back for a grade or two. In fact, I am not too sure that I will ever officially graduate from the school of faith. Amen?
Now, why is that? It is because sometimes we don’t make very good grades. And I want to talk to you today about “How to Mend a Broken Faith,” because there are just times that we don’t do all that good in God’s school of faith. Yet, this faith is so important for us to have in order to be successful in living the victorious Christian life.
Ask yourself, did you once walk with God, but now you wonder why you’re even in church on Sunday morning because you’re so far away from God? Do you remember how it was when God was real to you?
Ask yourself another question. Was there ever a time where God was nearer, dearer, and sweeter, to you than He is right now? If so, you’re backslidden. Just remember what it was like, how sweet it was, when you walked with the Lord. Let God bring you back to His house. You say, “Bro. Keith, how can I get right with God? Where can I find God?” You’ll find him right where you left Him. You don’t have to guess at it. You get on your knees, on your face, and God will show you. Go back to your first love.
Click on the link below to hear a message on how to mend your broken faith. First, there must be repentance, then remembrance, and then restoration. If you want to mend your faith, just gave it all back to Jesus, and the Lord will cleanse you and restore your faith.

HOW TO MEND A BROKEN FAITH-PART I (Genesis 12:1-10)
Sunday Nov 12, 2023
Sunday Nov 12, 2023
One of the great reoccurring lessons in the Bible is the need for the Christian believer to have faith. Not a hope-so faith, but a know-so faith based on the promises found in God’s Word. This know-so faith is absolutely required for the believer to live a victorious Christian life.
Abraham is called “the father of all them that believe” (Romans 4:11). When we think of Abraham, we think of faith, and we can learn some incredible lessons about faith as we study how he struggled to become this great man of faith. And, by the way, when I’m talking to you about faith, I’m not talking to you about something insignificant like how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. I’m talking to you about something that is so important that I can hardly think of an adjective to describe the importance of faith. It is of monumental, inestimable, importance.
Once you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, how are you going to live the Christian life? By trying? No. By trusting. The Christian life is lived by faith. Four times, the Bible says, “The just shall live by faith.” God says it one, two, three, four times. Now, do you think He’s trying to tell us something really important? I’m telling you, the way to live the Christian life is by faith.
Click on the link below to hear a message about the school of faith, and that’s a wonderful school, but sometimes we don’t make very good grades. And I want to talk to you about “How to Mend a Broken Faith,” because there are just times that we don’t do all that good in God’s school of faith. Now, life is the classroom in the school of faith. Obviously, the Bible is the textbook in the school of faith. The faculty includes the prophets and the apostles. But the dean of the school of faith would have to be Abraham.

ABRAHAM CHOOSES (Genesis 12:9 to 13_8)
Monday Nov 06, 2023
Monday Nov 06, 2023
One of the great Biblical themes that is taught over and over in Scripture is the effect of the choices that we, as Christians, make between choosing to follow the will of God in our lives and the things of this world. The fact that the believer even has a choice to follow the will of God is an often misunderstood blessing of our salvation.
You see, the lost person has no such choice to make. He is a slave to Satan, and he must follow the will of his master. His only choice is between heaven and hell. Between making Christ his Lord and Savior, or keeping Satan as his master. Once the decision is made to accept Christ’s offer of salvation, the person is freed from the bonds of slavery to Satan and sin. They now have a daily choice between serving God or serving Satan. They have the blessing of being able to daily choose God’s will for their lives, instead of Satan’s will.
Click on the link below to hear a message on the effect that Abraham’s choices had on his life, and that of his family. We will get to see the negative and the positive. God withholding His blessing from Abram, and God outpouring His blessings on a faithful servant.

A PASTOR’S ACCOUNTABILITY (Hebrews 13_17)
Sunday Mar 26, 2023
Sunday Mar 26, 2023
A PASTOR’S ACCOUNTABILITY (Hebrews 13:17)
The topic of our message is going to be on the accountability of the preachers and pastors that lead our churches. But, this message is not only for our pastors, it is for each of you as well, because you will also face a day of judgment. The Bible teaches that if the pastor is God’s man, then you ought to follow him; if he’s not, then you ought to fire him. It’s just that simple.
It is a fact that one of these days, every pastor, every preacher, every minister, must face the Lord, and He’s going to ask them to give an account of their ministry. But, it’s also a fact that each of us who are a true follower of Christ will one day face the Lord, and we will also have to give an accounting for not only, if we were obedient to God’s command to be submissive to our pastors, but for our own Christian work and ministry that God has given us.
Now, we are saved by grace through faith, and we cannot work our way to heaven. But, somehow people have gotten the idea that they can live just any way they like, do anything they like, and because they’re saved by grace they can just go to sleep in a Pullman car and just coast into the yards of glory and it will make absolutely no difference how they serve the Lord, what they did, or whatever. But the Bible teaches to the contrary.
The Bible teaches there is coming a day of accountability. The preacher is going to face an accountability. He is going to have to answer to God for the way he leads his church. Even though he is saved by grace, he will have to give an account.
Click on the play button to hear a message that will describe how Christ will hold pastors, and their followers, accountable the work that they have done in the name of our Lord.

A LIFE WITHOUT FEAR (Hebrews 13:5-6)

A LIFE WITHOUT FEAR (Hebrews 13:5-6)
When the old mapmakers were drawing ancient maps, they did not know what we know today. They didn’t have global positioning satellites. They could not see the world from outer space, and they would make maps of what they knew. But there was much that they did not know, and when they would come to the edge of their knowledge, they would often write something like this: “Beyond this, there may be dragons.” And, if you will look at some of the old maps, you will see the sea monster in the ocean right alongside those words. This is because man has an innate fear of the future, and of the unknown. The fear of the future is a foe that we all face. Whether we are young or old, rich or poor, educated or uneducated, we wonder about what is going to happen. Fear has no racial bias. It’s endemic to all people.
There is a fear of where our country is heading. There is a fear of the persecution of Christians that is occurring as our country, and world, move further and further away from the Biblical values of God, and God Himself. There is fear of the violence that is occurring all around us. There is a fear of financial loss and the inability to pay the bills that are sitting on your table at home. There is a fear of disease and failing health in a world filled with cancer and pandemics. These are just a few of the things that we face in an uncertain future, and yet, God wants us to have a future without fear. As a matter of fact, God has not only admonished us, but God has commanded us, not to fear.

THE ONLY WAY TO LIVE-PART II (Hebrews 10:38 to 11:6)
Sunday Sep 11, 2022
Sunday Sep 11, 2022
Life is a journey. We are headed somewhere, and it is not a casual journey. It is a race. The life of faith, the only way to live, is a life that has a destination. It is like a race. It has a goal. Now, faith helps us to find that goal, which is the will of God. Do you know what life is all about? It is to find, to follow, and to finish the will of God. That is the destination of faith. That is what faith is all about.
God tells us “Looking unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith.”—looking unto Jesus. This is telling us something very important. It is not great faith in God that you need. Oh, we all want great faith in God. But that’s a by-product. It is not great faith in God that you need. It is faith, in a great God. It is faith in a great God.
Do you know what faith is? It is the by-product of looking unto Jesus, who is the author and the finisher of our faith. He’s the Alpha, the Omega. He’s the one that fires the gun. He’s the goal to which we run. He is the coach that coaches us as we run. Put your eyes upon Jesus Christ.
Click on the link below to hear a message on how to live a life of faith. You will not live without faith. The question you need to ask is, do you know Jesus? You can exist without faith, but you will never live without faith. Jesus said, “I’ve come that you might have life.” You put your faith where God has put your sins: on Jesus Christ.

PATIENCE (Hebrews 10:32-37)
Sunday Aug 28, 2022
Sunday Aug 28, 2022
In today’s message we are going to be talking about patience. Oh my, how many times have you heard the saying “Don’t ever pray for God to teach you patience, because He certainly will.” Patience. The Bible actually has a lot to say about patience.
Heb 10:36
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
KJV
There is not a one of us that does not need patience. Now, let me tell you something “With God, timing is more important than time.” So many of us, we want it, and we want it now. We want instant credit. We want instant food. Why do you think the fast food industry is so big? Because we want what we want, and we want it now. We want instant service everywhere we go. Nobody likes standing in line waiting on the things we need. We want instant gratification. Tomorrow is almost a dirty word in today’s vocabulary. Yet, so many times, with God, there is a time of waiting between asking and receiving.
The Bible tells us that, if we know the Lord Jesus Christ, our standard of living may change, but our standard of life will not. You have need of patience, that you might inherit the promises of God.
Click on the link below to hear a message on how to develop patience in your life as you look forward to receiving the promises of God. First, remember yesterday’s provision. He saw you through then; He’ll see you through again. Second, resolve today’s patience—not just hunkering down. Remember, it is not patience that solemnly waits in the dark; it is patience that gloriously anticipates the dawn. And then, rest in tomorrow’s promise: “though it tarry, it will come.” Get a hold of the Word of God and never, never, never let it go.
