THE ONE WITH THE POWER TO SAVE (Mark 5:21-34)

When we need something done that we cannot do for ourselves, then we begin to search for someone with the power to meet that need. When my car needs repaired, when something in my home needs repaired, I begin a search for someone with the power to meet that need. When my need becomes a desperate need, I look for someone with the power to save me. Listen to this podcast to find the One with the power to meet the most desperate need in each of our lives. Listen and discover that Jesus Christ is the only One with the power to save you. If you are lost in a dark world, then Jesus Christ is the answer to that need. Jesus Christ has the power to save you.

THE ONE WITH ABSOLUTE POWER (Mark 5:1-20)

What kind of world do you think we live in?

Is it one of promise, and goodness, where evil is a rarity?The world is full of promise, but one look at the daily headlines tells us that evil is not a rarity. It happens every day. There is a constant struggle between darkness and light.

Knowing that evil exists, each of us tries to create a bubble of security around us. We try to shield our families from the darkness. Yet evil intrudes when a man walks into a school and shoots innocent children.

FAITH IN SOMETHING OR SOMEONE (Mark 4:33-41)

What do you place your faith in to get you through the trials of life? Your friends, your family, or your own abilities? What do you place your faith in to deal with the inevitability of death and what happens after death? Is it science, medicine, or religion? Science can tell you why you are going to die, but death will still ultimately come. Medicine can make you feel better before you die, it can even extend your life, but death will still ultimately come. Religion, with its works, and its rules, can make you feel like you are doing something about death and what comes after, but death will still ultimately come. Rejoice as the Bible tells us the something and the Someone that has the power to control death and what comes after.

DIRTY BIRDS AND DIRTY BREAD (Mark 4:24 to 31)

As believers, it is easy for us to look at the world around us and see that it is growing farther and farther from God. The world’s religious system has taken the inerrant and infallible Word of God and homogenized it, water its truths down, and added the philosophies of man to it, so that it will be more socially adjusted and accepted by the world.

THE CANDLE AND THE BASKET (MARK 4:21-23)

In the parable of the candle and the basket, Jesus asks the simple question of the believer, would you bring a candle to a dark room and then cover it up with a basket?

Most people would say no, that does not make any sense because the purpose of lighting a candle is to dispel the darkness. A candle’s light brings safety from the things that lurk in the dark. If you put the candle into a lantern it becomes a mobile device that lights the pathway on a dark night, and if you put a reflective surface behind it, you can cast its light for long distances.

Our churches are full of people who have made a profession of faith but do not possess Christ in their hearts. Their faith is an intellectual acceptance of Christ, but they have not been reborn.

Others have attended crusades, or evangelistic meetings, and had an emotional experience, only to find that being a Christian means facing persecution.

Jesus is calling you to come unto Him. How are you going to respond?  For those who respond to the call of Jesus and make Him their Savior, there is a lifetime of trials, persecution, and heartache.  But through it all there is His Spirit in your heart, His wisdom, His comfort, His strength, and most of all eternal life with Jesus in heaven. For those who reject the call of Jesus, there is a lifetime of trials, persecution, and heartache.  But through it all you are alone.  Your friends cannot be there with you every moment you need.  You must face these trials alone, and most of all you have chosen to spend eternity separated from God.
