DIRTY BIRDS AND DIRTY BREAD (Mark 4:24 to 31)

As believers, it is easy for us to look at the world around us and see that it is growing farther and farther from God. The world’s religious system has taken the inerrant and infallible Word of God and homogenized it, water its truths down, and added the philosophies of man to it, so that it will be more socially adjusted and accepted by the world.

THE CANDLE AND THE BASKET (MARK 4:21-23)

In the parable of the candle and the basket, Jesus asks the simple question of the believer, would you bring a candle to a dark room and then cover it up with a basket?

Most people would say no, that does not make any sense because the purpose of lighting a candle is to dispel the darkness. A candle’s light brings safety from the things that lurk in the dark. If you put the candle into a lantern it becomes a mobile device that lights the pathway on a dark night, and if you put a reflective surface behind it, you can cast its light for long distances.

Our churches are full of people who have made a profession of faith but do not possess Christ in their hearts. Their faith is an intellectual acceptance of Christ, but they have not been reborn.

Others have attended crusades, or evangelistic meetings, and had an emotional experience, only to find that being a Christian means facing persecution.

Many in the world today consider Jesus to have been a great teacher or prophet, but Jesus was much more than a teacher. Jesus as God incarnate in man, had a message for the world. It is a message of God’s grace, God’s love, and eternal life.

TO BE CALLED UNTO JESUS (Mark 3:13-30)

Jesus is calling you to come unto Him. How are you going to respond?  For those who respond to the call of Jesus and make Him their Savior, there is a lifetime of trials, persecution, and heartache.  But through it all there is His Spirit in your heart, His wisdom, His comfort, His strength, and most of all eternal life with Jesus in heaven. For those who reject the call of Jesus, there is a lifetime of trials, persecution, and heartache.  But through it all you are alone.  Your friends cannot be there with you every moment you need.  You must face these trials alone, and most of all you have chosen to spend eternity separated from God. YOU MUST DESCIDE ABOUT JESUS (Mark 3:1-12)

What was the most important decision you have ever had to make?  Who your husband or wife would be?  Which career path you would take?  To change jobs? To go to college, or not?  To have children, and how many?  Which religion you would follow?  These are all truly important decisions that have long term implications on your life.   Listen to this podcast to hear what the Word of God says is the single most important decision you will ever make.  This single decision will determine whether you spend eternity in heaven or hell.  Nothing else you do will matter.  No amount of good works will change the consequences of this single decision.  You must decide about who Jesus Christ is in your life.

JESUS, THE BELIEVER'S REST (Mark 2:23-28)

Do you always try to do what is right?  Most of us would say yes.  In your daily activities are you always trying to do what is ethical, moral, and just?  Again, my expectation is that you would say yes, as Christians we are basically moral people.   Do you have a set of values about what is right or wrong that you try to live your life by?  Of course, you do.  When you face a hard decision about your career, or marriage, or divorce, or even where you are going to go on vacation, do you try to do what is right in your own eyes?  Listen to this podcast to learn how Jesus tells you that if you answered yes to any, or one, of these questions, and you are a believer, then you have failed to fully enter into the rest that Jesus Christ offers each believer.

WHERE DO YOU SHINE? (Mark 2:13-22)

Where do you shine the brightest?  Where is the place that people notice you the most and say, I wish I could be like that person? If you are a believer, is it when you are at church on Sunday?  Certainly, Christ expects a church to be a light set upon a hill for all to see, but what about your individual light?  Listen to this podcast to understand how Jesus expects us to be a light for a dark world that is searching for answers.

THE POWER OF JESUS CHRIST (Mark 1:35 to 2:12)

When you commit a crime against a state or local jurisdiction, it is a court from that jurisdiction that is given authority to determine your guilt or innocence of that transgression.  This is because the law that you have broken was written by the same state or local jurisdiction.  It is their law you have broken, therefore, they hold the right to judge you.   When you commit a sin against a holy and just God, it is God alone that has the authority to determine your guilt or innocence, and then to convict and sentence you for that sin.  This is because God has established the absolute truths of what is right and what is sin, therefore, He alone holds the right to judge you.   It is because God is a just God that He cannot simply say your sin does not matter and release you from the consequences of that sin.  So God chose to send His only begotten Son to pay the penalty for your sins.  He did this so that He can forgive, not just some of the people of their sin, but so that He can forgive all of mankind's sin.  The authority to forgive sin is God's and God's alone.  No priest, pope, ruler, or potentate can do this.  Listen to this podcast to learn how Jesus Christ claimed the power and authority to forgive your sin on this earth.  Learn how if you do not seek the forgiveness that Jesus can provide before you die, you will not receive that forgiveness at all.

THEY KNEW THE NAME OF JESUS (Mark 1:16-34)

Can you remember the first time you heard the name Jesus and really understood who He is?  The name of Jesus divides the history of mankind.  There is the time before Christ came, and there is the time after He came.  Every time you write a date you are acknowledging that Jesus came to this earth 2,000 years ago.   The name of Jesus is one of the most famous names in all of history.  Listen to this podcast to learn what happened on the day that the name of Jesus first became famous.
