WHAT ARE THE SIGNS OF THE LORD'S COMING (Mark 13:14-27)

One of the most popular topics for Bible study is the prophecy concerning the end-times.  Jesus deliberately told His disciples of the events that would occur in the future so that they would not be discouraged when He left them.  He knew that they, and all the believers that followed, would face terrible persecution for proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.  

Jesus knew that they could face that persecution only through the power of the Holy Spirit working in them and the firm knowledge of the goals and events that they were working toward.  He told them of a coming day of judgment for the nation Israel for their rejection of Jesus as the Messiah, and He told them of a coming day of judgment for a world that had rejected God.  But Jesus also told them of the rewards for those who made Jesus their Lord and Master.

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS? (Mark 12:41 to 13:13)

Our lives are full of signs.  Good signs, and bad signs.  Signs that are clear, and signs that are hard to see.  Signs that mean a promise will be kept, and signs of betrayal.  Signs that we look for with hope, and signs of things that we dread. 

Biblical prophecy is about God telling us of things to come.  Things that are good, and things that are bad.  Things that we look forward to with hope, and things that we dread.  Most of all, Biblical prophecy is about the promises that God keeps.

THE WHEAT AND THE TARES (Matthew 13:24-43)

As a believer, you have been placed in this world as the ambassador of Jesus Christ. Your mission is to share the gospel of Christ.  Satan hates everything that God does, so he has placed his own agents in the world right alongside the ambassadors of Jesus Christ. Their mission is to dilute the message of the gospel of Christ. They are to deceive those who hear the message of Christ with their own version of it. They are to destroy the message of the gospel of Christ. The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares is a story from Jesus that describes the world that we live in today. How God's messengers are hard at work, and what Satan is trying to do to stop it. THE ORDER OF THE RESURRECTIONS (1 Cor. 15:20-28)

Contrary to what most religions will tell you, there is not just one general resurrection where, based on their works, God chooses the good from the bad, and the good go to heaven and the bad go to hell. 

 

Absolutely not.  There are multiple resurrections and they each have an important role in fulfilling God’s plan for the redemption of a sin-cursed earth and a sinful man. 

 

In this verse-by-verse study of 1 Cor. 15:20-28 Paul tells us the order of these resurrections, and we will discuss which of the resurrections each of us will participate in, based on one single question, “Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, or not?”

 

Listen as Paul tells us that there is something beyond the grave for each of us, and we get to choose what that is. 

To Be Found Faithful (1 Cor. 3:14-17)

Does the believer care about the rewards or position that they might receive at the Judgment Seat of Christ? If there is no envy or pride in heaven, is it important to even worry about the rewards?This is a good question.  In this week's lesson we talk about how God's Word answers this question.As you listen to this, I want you to challenge your perspective on the question.  Are you looking at the question as it relates to what you receive, or what the Lord sees and thinks about what you have done? This study is a verse-by-verse study of 1 Corinthians 3:14-17.  It discusses the question of why do we want to be found faithful at the Judgment Seat of Christ.
